HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?
Objective Scientific evidence shows that acupuncture has a physical basis, and does not work by hypnosis or suggestion. The human body is connected by “meridians”- the pathways beneath the skin through which healing energy flows. Recent studies show that acupuncture meridians are transmission lines to the central nervous system. The body begins the healing process through these meridians.
DO THE TREATMENTS HURT?
Acupuncture is practically painless if treated by a skilled acupuncturist. Needles used are extremely fine. Needles are not felt as they pierce the skin, though a slight pressure may be felt when the needle reaches the correct spot under the skin. Needles cause no bleeding when inserted or removed.
WHAT IS THE SIDE EFFECTS?
Acupuncture has no side effects though a two-hour rest is recommended following treatment. Patients are encouraged to report the exact results of each treatment to allow the acupuncturist the most information available to best determine how to handle individual treatments.
