HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY?
It is recommended that a series of 10 treatments be given. Many patients will obtain the best results after 6 or 12 treatments. It is best to consult with the acupuncturist on individual treatment. Treatments are preferably are given twice a week in the beginning and then spread out as the patient improves.
WHAT TRAINING SHOULD PATIENTS LOOK FOR?
Members of the Florida Acupuncture Association is proud to use only the traditional Chinese method of acupuncture. Many Graduates have more than 10 years of experience. Doctors are trained to only use traditional Chinese methods. Only the most qualified acupuncturists are licensed to practice.
HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE WORK?
Objective Scientific evidence shows that acupuncture has a physical basis, and does not work by hypnosis or suggestion. The human body is connected by “meridians”- the pathways beneath the skin through which healing energy flows. Recent studies show that acupuncture meridians are transmission lines to the central nervous system. The body begins the healing process through these meridians.
DO THE TREATMENTS HURT?
Acupuncture is practically painless if treated by a skilled acupuncturist. Needles used are extremely fine. Needles are not felt as they pierce the skin, though a slight pressure may be felt when the needle reaches the correct spot under the skin. Needles cause no bleeding when inserted or removed.
WHAT IS THE SIDE EFFECTS?
Acupuncture has no side effects through a two-hour rest is recommended following treatment. Patients are encouraged to report the exact results of each treatment to allow the acupuncturist the most information available to best determine how to handle individual treatments.
DOES INSURANCE COVER TREATMENT?
Most insurance companies honor claims for acupuncture treatment. Patients are encouraged to contact their insurance provider. Dragon Phoenix Acupuncture will be pleased to assist in completing and filing insurance claim forms.
